A record 273 wines were entered into this year’s annual Blackwood Valley & Western Australia Boutique Wine Show held in Bridgetown during October.
Of the total number of wines entered, 124 received medals for their quality.
Chief Judge Kim Horton praised the efforts of producers and said it was rewarding to see the quality and number of wines growing each year.
“It is fantastic and very encouraging to see the high quality of wines being entered into this event,” he said.
“It’s a positive message for the industry and consumers that boutique wines and the Blackwood region really are producing some excellent wines.”
Blackwood Valley wines featured prominently in the trophies and medal winning, with 41% entered from the region receiving recognition from the judges.
