The ZORK-SPK wine closure has been awarded the 2009 Design Institute of Australia's South Australia branch award of merit.
Founder of ZORK John Brooks says it was fantastic achievement to be recognised by the SA community.
“This, coupled with our recent success at the Australian Packaging Awards, confirms that we have a closure that delivers both form and function to the global wine industry,” he said.
ZORK recently won the Gold Innovation Award from the Australian Packaging Council for its sparkling wine closure.
The company, which designs resealable alternatives to screw caps and cork, also won the APA gold innovation award in 2005 for its still wine closure STL, and has made inroads towards global distribution of its product.
ZORK is now distributed in more than 10 countries, including the US, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, UK, South Africa, Israel, Canada, NZ and Japan.
It has in-country production in Australia, the US and Europe, and according to a ZORK spokesperson, many more wineries are closely assessing SPK as a genuine alternative to the traditional sparkling wine cork closure.
