Tucker Creative puts its label on international design stage

Leading Adelaide marketing and design firm Tucker Creative is firmly stamping its label on the world’s wine stage.

The company recently won two awards for labels on different wines proving once again it has the ability to understand the market and create designs that jump off the shelves.

Most recently, Tucker Creative received the 2008 International Gallery Gold Award for superb craftsmanship from the US-based IAHPC Graphic Professionals Resource Network Gallery of Superb Printing for its label of Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards ‘Expatriate Shiraz’.

Tucker Creative managing and creative director Jody Tucker said the label continued to impress, and had now won its third award for the design.

“I think the key to the 'Expatriate Shiraz' label’s success is that it tells a story about the McLaren Vale winemaker Corrina Wright who spends time travelling between Australia and the US,” Tucker said.

“The label looks like a travel journal, complete with pictures, souvenirs and stamps.”

The progressive design firm has also triumphed at the World Wine Championships for its ingenious label for American wine producer Rodney Strong Wine Estates.

It was awarded gold for Best Etched Label Design of Rodney Strong’s Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Rockaway’.

The stark contrast of the black glass bottle, with the band of screen printed rock winding its way around the bottle’s body stood out to the judges against its international counterparts.

“The award reflects the direction of Tucker Creative, with much of our business made up of United States-based wine producers,” Tucker said.

He said the Rodney Strong brief was to have the wine stand out on the shelf.

“I actually brought a rock back from the ‘Rockaway’ vineyard and we took images of the surface which were further enhanced to create an impactful visual effect,” he said.

“It is a tribute to the Tucker Creative team and the courage of those at Rodney Strong to break the mould, and have it recognised by the judges, who are representatives of the design, retail, and restaurant industries.”

Tucker Creative is working on two more labels in the Rodney Strong brand; Alexanders Crown and Brothers Ridge.
