Entries close soon for Canberra International Riesling Challenge

Winemakers have just five days until entries close for the 2009 Canberra International Riesling Challenge.

Challenge chairman Ken Helm said the response to date had been strong – with a good flow of entries from across Australia and overseas, also the first entry from France, with enquires from Chile, Argentina, and Japan indicates the continuing world interest in the event.

“This event has proven to be one of the most prestigious and most hotly contested worldwide and despite the global financial crisis we are confident of another strong field for this 10th anniversary of the Challenge,” Helm said.

The 10th Riesling Challenge will, for the first time, include a two-day symposium at Canberra’s historic Hyatt Hotel on 15–16 October 2009.

“We will be bringing together an impressive group of speakers for the symposium – including some of this nation’s best Riesling winemakers.”

Registrations for the symposium will open shortly and information will be available from www.rieslingchallenge.com.

The black-tie awards dinner for the Challenge which will see the announcement of the Best In World trophy will be held on Friday 16 October and the popular public tasting will take place at the Hyatt on Saturday 17 October.
