Austrade and the WA Department of State Development are seeking expressions of interest for a wine mission to Calgary from 6–9 October.
The objectives of this mission include promoting Western Australia as a 'brand' in the third largest and most open wine market in Canada, to put wineries in front of agents, retail buyers, restaurant trade and consumers in Calgary to get market feedback and secure representation, and to get first hand experience on how the Canadian wine market operates receiving face-to-face feedback from the agents, retailers and media.
This mission is ideally suited to wineries that are new to Canada or the Alberta market who are interested in securing representation, or wineries that are already selling in Alberta but wish to increase the awareness and sales of their wine in the market.
The draft service offering given to WIAWA is as follows: — briefing on the wine market in Alberta by an industry contact — visit to a retail outlet participation in an afternoon trade only tasting of WA wines that will attract agents, retail buyers and restaurants — participation in an evening reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Perth for the Calgary business community and civic/provincial leaders
Cost to participate will be $1520, exclusive of travel costs and wines. Members who are interested in receiving more information about this mission are to email Aymee Mastaglia at WIAWA on . Aymee will compile a list of interested members and pass details on to the Department of State Development.
