Experience the Barossa’s winter harvest

The dates for the Barossa Gourmet Weekend have been confirmed for 22–23 August 2009.

Participating in one of Australa’s strongest regional events are over 20 wineries including family owned and operated Whistler Wines, Gibson Wines and Schild Estate and the large well-known wineries Peter Lehmann Wines, Seppeltsfield and Penfolds.

The event highlights the Barossa’s position as a leading wine-producing region as well as the home of fine food. Winter Harvest is this year’s theme where visitors can taste, eat and learn about the foods they are eating while enjoying some of Australia’s best wines in the most beautiful settings.

To entice visitors out of winter hibernation, each winery has developed their own winter harvest theme by linking up with renowned Barossan and South Australian chefs to create delicious menus, from slow cooked hot-pots to decadent desserts.

Live music, entertainment and family friendly activites are planned at each winery to appeal to a wide range of vistors of all ages. A shuttle bus service is available throughout the weekend to ensure easy navigation and a designated driver program offers complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and coffee to the choosen driver.

Barossa hospitality is at its best during Barossa Gourmet. Wineries want to extend a warm welcome to every visitor. Put on your gum boots, pull on your hats and wrap up warm so that you can share in the excitement of this year’s Barossa Gourmet line up of fantastic food and wonderful wine this winter.
