The South Australian Wine Industry Association has applied for a Safework SA grant to develop training materials aimed at reducing the frequency and severity of the top 5 injuries in the wine industry.
In its application, SAWIA has proposed to engage a consultant to develop practical training materials, and then deliver the materials via regional training sessions throughout SA as well as making the training aids available on the association's website. SAWIA says the the project would minimise injury costs for employers and the SA Workers Compensation Scheme as well as ensure that workers are equipped to maintain a workplace free of injury.
The Safework SA Small Grants Program provides grants of up to $50,000 for projects that can contribute to reducing work injuries in South Australia.
SAWIA expects to know the outcome of its application by the end of March 2009.
