The Top 20 Australian wine companies are dominated by three global names at the top of the tree, Foster’s, Constellation Wines and Pernod Ricard. But from positions 4 to 20, there is a spread of family-run businesses and listed companies that represent the heart and soul of the Australian wine industry. This is where names such as Casella, McWilliam’s, De Bortoli, Brown Brothers, Yalumba, Peter Lehmann, Grant Burge, Angove’s and Tyrrell’s come to the fore.
The Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker, with the expertise of wine industry commentator and author of The Key Report, Tony Keys, has spent the last three months getting to the nitty gritty of what makes our Top 20 companies tick.
The result is a special extended coverage in the March issue of The Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker magazine. This inaugural Top 20 Australian Wine Companies feature has individual interviews and stories detailing how each of these companies achieved success in 2008 and what they see as the challenges in the year ahead.
