Clare Valley Winemakers gain naming right

The Clare Valley Winemakers Inc has attracted a naming rights sponsor for this year’s Clare Valley Wine Show.
Fine wine retailer Langton’s is supporting the annual showcase of Clare Valley wines, with the event – the 23rd held — to be known as the Langton’s Clare Valley Wine Show.

Announcing the sponsorship, CVWI Chairman Andrew Pike welcomed Langton’s involvement as a prominent organisation within the Australian and international wine industry.

“We are very pleased that Langton’s has joined with our other valuable sponsors to support the show and recognise the status of Clare as a significant region with a long history of producing outstanding wines.

“The annual show is a window to the exciting things that are happening with Clare Valley wine and we are committed to continuing its development.”

Langton’s National Business Development Manager Clayton Buffoni said the naming rights sponsorship underlined its commitment to supporting wineries at a regional level.

“This sponsorship, in addition to our current support of the burgeoning Margaret River Wine Show, allows us to support two regions that continue to grow and enhance their reputations for specific varietals that rate, quite simply, as the best in their class at an international level," he said.

"The Clare Valley has formed an intrinsic part of Langton's journey with strong representation in the Langton's Classification indicating wines of enduring quality and integrity.

“It is a pleasure, however, to support a region that stands up so strongly when viewed across its full complement of wineries and not simply by the recognition of those few."

Award-winning author and wine writer Nick Stock is returning as Chair of Judges for the 2017 Langton’s Clare Valley Wine Show.

He will be joined by a panel of judges from winemaking, retail and hospitality:

Iain Riggs – Managing Director — Chief Winemaker, Brokenwood
Ian Hongell – Senior Winemaker, Torbreck
Kerri Thompson – Winemaker Owner – Wines By KT
Randall Pollard — Independent Fine Wine Merchant – Randall’s
Matthew Brooke – Director of Wine – Crowne Melbourne Limited

Around 450 entries are expected for this year’s Langton’s Clare Valley Wine Show, with judging from Tuesday, October 24, to Thursday, October 26. The awards lunch, including presentation of trophies, will be held at the Clare Town Hall on Friday, October 27.

The gold-medal wines will be on show prior to the lunch when the public will have an opportunity to taste the award-winners at a public event in Clare’s Ennis Park, matched with canapés created by Clare Valley Cuisine.
