International Wine Challenge Announces 2009 Call For Entries The IWC has been running for over 25 years and has established its reputation for identifying and rewarding top wines from around the globe through its assessment of judging every wine blind, for its faithfulness to variety, region and vintage and independently of its price.
Andrew Reed, Managing Director of William Reed Business Media, says: “The IWC is a prestigious competition that recognises quality and excellence in wines and ultimately aims to help wine producers sell more wine globally. The winning wines enjoy enhanced credibility among consumers internationally and success can help to drive sales across the year, particularly during competitive trading periods. It is international recognition of the winemaker’s skills and a powerful way of cutting through to the consumer and standing out from the competition.”
The winning wines will be picked from over 9,500 entries, each tasted by panels drawn from over 400 experienced judges including Co-Chairmen Tim Atkin MW, Charles Metcalfe, Sam Harrop MW and Derek Smedley MW. This year Joshua Greene, editor and publisher of the US magazine Wine & Spirits, will join as the International Guest Chairman.
A large part of the IWC's reputation is down to the quality and experience of its judges. Their undeniable expertise and the guarantee that each medal winning wine is tasted at least three times ensures that the winners are well deserving of their accolades.

The judging will take place in mid April and the results will be announced at the London International Wine Fair in May.
