Understanding your award & award modernisation

With vintage just around the corner, and the industry’s heavy reliance on awards during that time for shift work operations and seasonal employees, SAWIA is conducting another round of workshops to assist employers understand and correctly apply the detailed workings of an industrial award.

The workshop will cover: · Employment relationship / legislation · What is an Award? · The process of making of federal modern awards (under Forward with Fairness) · What is going to happen State awards? · Non-award employees (or award free) — will this exist in the future under Forward with Fairness? · Obligations of employer if you are bound by an award · How to read & interpret provisions contained in awards · Examine operation of clauses within the Wine & Spirit Industry (SA) Award and the Wine & Spirit Industry (SA) Award NAPSA · Award modernisation – IR reforms – what will awards look like in the future.
