Xabregas collects Gold at Royal Melbourne Wine Show

Award winning Great Southern wine Xabregas has collected five medals, including two gold, at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2008.

Xabregas won gold for the Xabregas White Label Shiraz 2007 (Class 24), which was named a finalist in the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for best one-year-old dry red.

Xabregas also collected gold for the Xabregas Show Reserve Chardonnay 2007 (Class 16) which is a highly anticipated follow up to the extraordinarily successful 2006 Xabregas Show Reserve Chardonnay.

The Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2008 is hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria and received more than 3,300 entries this year. It is one of Australia’s most prestigious wine shows.

Xabregas Marketing Manager, Jan Burke, said Xabregas was delighted with the results and pleased the Xabregas White Label Shiraz 2007 received gold and a finalist nomination for the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy.

“The Xabregas White Label Shiraz 2007 is a power-packed, high calibre varietal example that displays such character and potential and is very much deserving of the recent nomination.”

“It is destined to develop and advance to a truly great wine,” she said.

The Xabregas White Label Shiraz 2007 was recently named one of the Top 50 Wines at the Visy Great Australian Shiraz Challenge 2008, along with the Xabregas Show Reserve Shiraz 2005.

Xabregas has enjoyed much success at national and international wine shows this year, collecting an array of medals and commendations including gold (best in class) at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2008 and two gold at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2008.
