Solving fruit-set problems in Tumbarumba

Growers in the Tumbarumba region will benefit from a joint NWGIC and GWRDC seminar presented by the Tumbarumba Vignerons’ Association Viticulture Committee being held on 18 November at the Tumbarumba Bowling Club.
The topic of the day is early bunch stem necrosis and a range of speakers will provide answers to growers with questions relating to poor fruit-set. The day’s program includes:
• Background on vine physiology and flowering and the findings from trials conducted in the Adelaide Hills, presented by Dr Cassandra Collins of the University of Adelaide • Relationship between carbohydrate’s dynamics and reproductive development, presented by Dr Bruno Holzapfel, senior research viticulturist, NWGIC/NSWDPI • Current research knowledge of physiological disorders causing early bunch stem necrosis, presented by Dr Andrea Pickering of Hortresearch NZ • The effect of pseudomonas syringae on inflorescence development, presented by Dr Melanie Weckert, NWGIC/NSWDPI The day is being presented at a very affordable $15/head to cover the presentations and catering.
