Phylloxera spreads in new Yarra Valley outbreak

Grapegrower & Winemaker has received reports of a new outbreak of phylloxera in the Yarra Valley. The magazine understands the new outbreak is located at a private vineyard opposite the Foster’s-owned Beavis vineyard where phylloxera was detected in 2006. Foster’s has since destroyed all vines on the 32ha site. An announcement from the Victorian DPI is expected shortly, following the results of genotyping.
