A new beginning for Langhorne Creek Winery

Following the 2008 vintage the Board of Langhorne Creek Winery decided to take a new direction. After seven successful years under the management of shareholder Boar’s Rock, Langhorne Creek Winery has moved to self management and is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Zerella as CEO.
Paul’s move to the wine industry came after 15 years in Fruit and Vegetable Wholesaling, when in 1994 he and father Vic formed part of the consortium that purchased the Southern Vales Winery in McLaren Vale and resurrected the well respected Tatachilla brand. In July 2000, after the merger of St Hallett and Tatachilla, he became General Manager of Operations and Trading for Banksia Wines and then Export Director for the Lion Nathan Wine Group, after they purchased Banksia in 2002. Prior to his new role, Paul spent five years as Managing Director of Haselgrove Wines, where he successfully developed both the Brand and the Contract Processing business know as McLaren Vale Custom Crush.
The Langhorne Creek Winery is a state of the art Grape Processing, Winemaking and Storage facility built in 2000 and strategically located less than one hour from many of South Australia’s best know wine regions, including Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and of course Langhorne Creek. While the Winery has processed 18,000 tonne, the 50 hectare site gives us the opportunity of future expansion to 30,000 tonne.
Some of the Winery’s current features are: Grape receival facilities to suit all styles of delivery, both large and small Red ferment capacity: 1,500 tonnes per cycle Press capacity: from 26,000 to 32,000 litres Fermenter size: from 15 to 50 tonnes Fermenter style: rotary; sluicing; sweeping-arm Bulk storage capacity: over 10 million litres Tank sizes: 4,500 to 120,000 litres Barrel storage capacity: Approx 3,500 Centrifuge and Earth filtration capabilities Modern Laboratory providing a range of analytical services Senior Winemaker Peter Pollard heads up an experienced and enthusiastic team, who is looking forward to the challenge of building on Langhorne Creek Winery’s reputation as a high quality wine producer, and growing our client base, which currently includes some of Australia’s largest and well respected wine brands.
