Supported by the Australian and New Zealand Wine Industry Journal,a record number of entries will be judged during the 2008 Blackwood Valley & WA Boutique Wine Show, to be held on Thursday 16th & Friday 17th October at the Bridgetown Civic Centre.
The Show, now in its sixth year, is open to Boutique Wine Producers from across Western Australia who crush up to 250t, as well as producers from the Blackwood Valley wine region. The show enables small producers to have their wines judged to Australian standards by some of the country’s leading winemakers.
The show again has a prestigious judging panel in Michael Kerrigan (Chief Judge), Robert Diletti and Simon Hanley. They will be supported by Associate Judges Bernie Stanlake, Brian Walker and Greg Banfield.
A record 236 wines have been entered into this year's show by 57 producers from every wine region across the State including Central WA, Geographe, Great Southern, Manjimup, Margaret River, Peel, Pemberton, Swan Valley and local producers from the Blackwood Valley.
For the first time the show’s exhibitors will have the opportunity to compare their wines to other entries and discuss results with the judges in an exclusive exhibitor’s tasting on the Friday evening. This will be followed by the presentation of awards.
There will be no public tasting following the wine show this year, however the wines and produce of the Blackwood Valley will be showcased in “The Taste of the Blackwood” on Saturday 1st November at Bridgedale House, Bridgetown.
