Geelong Winegrowers Association announce new executive officer

The Geelong Winegrowers Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Jo Surkitt as their new executive officer.

Jo has a diverse background in tourism, marketing and business management. With her motivation and enthusiasm she is looking forward to assisting with the expansion and growth of the GWA through supporting members and enhancing public awareness through promoting regional wineries.

Jo believes that wine and food are essential parts to tourism in the Geelong, Surf Coast, Bellarine and Moorabool regions. Visitors to our beautiful coastline and many attractions will be encouraged to enjoy the high quality local produce our region has to offer.

The Geelong wine region is fast becoming more and more popular amongst wine enthusiasts and those who enjoy a good quality glass of wine. Being a region of cool climate grapes, many of our wineries have prize winning wines highlighted in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion.

Jo jumps on board just in time for two exciting GWA events in the Geelong region.

The first is the 2008 Geelong Wine Show, held on the 16th &17th October at Deakin University and the Ford Discovery Centre. For more information log on to www.geelongwineshow.com.

Jo is also very excited about the upcoming Annual “Toast to the Coast” Wine Festival to be held on 1st and 2nd November during the Melbourne Cup weekend. Featuring wine tours, food stalls, live music, local attractions and entertainment for all ages it is sure to be a weekend of fun and provide the opportunity for visitors to enjoy local wines.
