Call for entries for Orange Wine Show 2008

Entries are now open for the Orange Wine Show 2008 and the Wine Show Committee has put the call out for submissions to be made. Entries to the show are limited to wines made from grapes of which 85% have been grown in the Orange GI or new proposed GI region bordering Orange. Entries for the Orange Wine Show 2008 close 30 September and deliveries should be made no later than 3 October.

Entry forms, wine show rules and all details are available to download from www.winesoforange.com.au, or can be obtained from the Wine Show Committee by emailing .

Judging will take place on Thursday, 16 October in Orange and the judges for this year’s show include Sue Hodder (Chief Judge — Wynns), John Ellis (Hanging Rock) and Ben Moechtar (Aust Sommeliers Assoc).

The 2007 show saw a record number of entries and exhibitors and it is expected that the show will again grow this year. The red wine classes dominated last year’s show with Merlot, Shiraz and Italian varieties really impressing the judges. This year it is expected that the whites, in particular Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, will do well.

The public is invited to come and share the results and the wines at the Orange Wine Show Public Tasting event from 7.00pm on Friday, 17 October at the Orange Show Ground. Tickets cost $30 and can be booked on line at www.tasteorange.com.au.
