Wolf Blass wines excels at 2008 Barossa Wine Show

South Australia's Wolf Blass, has been honoured for its wine portfolio at the 2008 Barossa Wine Show. Wolf Blass Wines were awarded two major trophies including The Novotel Barossa Valley Resort Trophy for Most Successful Exhibitor and The Air Liquid Australia Trophy for Best Museum White Wine for its Icon Eden Valley Riesling B.

These results coincide with Wolf Blass’s recent honouring as International Red Winemaker of the Year award at the 2008 International Wine Challenge (IWC) in London plus the Australia Post Trophy at the recent 2008 Perth Royal Wine Show for the exhibitor with 5 or more entries gaining the highest average points.

In all Wolf Blass received at the 2008 Barossa Wine Show — two Gold (including Trophy Top Gold) and two Silver, with results detailed below. Collectively the results, across all of the notable wine shows, showcase the quality of wines being presented across the Wolf Blass portfolio.

The 2008 Barossa Wine Show featured a record 619 entries; both highlighting the strength of wines from such a notable wine region and the vast competition associated with this award.

Chris Hatcher, Wolf Blass chief winemaker, said: "It’s an all round great result. These awards are a testament to the passion, vision, hard work and dedication of the entire Wolf Blass winemaking team. We are particularly pleased with it because it represents the Barossa wines and the local winemaking team."

This year wine lovers and savvy wine drinkers will be provided a unique opportunity to sample hundreds of premium Barossa wines, including all the trophy winners at a special public tasting on Saturday 20 September from 10.00am to 1.00pm at Peter Lehmann Wines in Tanunda. Cost of entry is $25, which includes a complimentary Barossa glass.
