Log on to the Limestone Coast Wine Show

Entries can now be posted online for the 2008 Limestone Coast Wine Show being held from 27–31 October.

Last year, 75% of registrations were lodged via the internet and it’s hoped that exhibitors will make the most of the facility again this year. But they’ll need to move quickly, with September 5, 2008 declared the cut-off date for entries for the 8th annual event.

By clicking on www.limestonecoastwine.com.au/wineshow entrants will find everything they need to know about the competition including the Entry Form and Conditions, Classes, and a list of the Major Awards and Past Winners.

“Last year, we received a record number of participants, with 74 exhibitors taking part and 506 entries representing a 12% increase on the 2006 figures,” says Ulrich Grey-Smith from the LCWS Committee. “The move to Padthaway in 2007 proved to be a success and in future years we will continue to find the best judging venues within the Limestone coast zone.”

This year, judging will return to the event’s ‘traditional home’ at the Coonawarra Hall, while the Trophy Presentation Dinner will be held at the Naracoorte Town Hall on Thursday October 30.

The highly respected Huon Hooke will be welcomed as new Chairman of Judges.

“A full-time professional wine writer with over 20 years’ experience, Huon Hooke travels extensively and judges several competitions each year both within Australia and internationally, watching for emerging directions and trends,” says Mr Grey-Smith.

Mr Hooke will replace James Halliday, who has retired after seven years at the helm of the Limestone Coast Wine Show.

“We thank him for his lengthy commitment and for the prestige he has afforded our show,” says Mr Grey-Smith.

The public and exhibitors’ tasting session has been set for October 31, 2008. Results from the 2008 event will appear at www.limestonecoastwine.com.au
