Let the public be the judge

King Valley Vignerons’ unique Shed Wine Show will be held on 4 October this year – it is the only wine show awards where the prizes are based on the scores of the general public.

King Valley is Australia’s most diverse premium wine region, with an exciting range of Italian and other alternative varieties as well as all the traditional wines.

King Valley is spectacular in spring, with stunning views of snow capped mountains, forests re-growing brilliantly after the fires, bright golden wattles and grape vines bursting with the new season’s growth. Visitors from southern Victoria are encouraged to drive the beautiful and little known route from Mansfield to Whitfield.

Makers of wine, both professional and amateur, using grapes from the King Valley are invited to show their wine. To assist the public with scoring the wines, there will be a Wine Tasting Course available on the day. Entry fee is $10 per person which includes a commemorative glass. Groups of 10 or more people who book in advance will receive a personalized guided tasting, 2 free entrances and a free wine pack.

Wine tastings will be available throughout the day with the public being able to judge the wine and have their scores count until 4.30pm. New this year will be gourmet cooking demonstrations during the day and the public will be asked to match a wine with each dish prepared. Tastings will continue in the evening when there will be an after show party and presentation of awards. Awards will be presented to winemakers, grape growers and tasters. To receive a personal invitation to attend the presentation ceremony, please phone, fax or email King Valley Vignerons or visit www.kvv.com.au

A bus will run from Wangaratta to the venue at 10am and 5pm, returning at 4.30pm and 8.00pm. Various community music groups will be providing music throughout the day and a petanque court will be available for extra entertainment.

Come and taste the premium wines of the King Valley in the historic Gracebrook Stables cellar door in the heart of the valley.
