Great Wall adds cork to official Beijing Games wine

A long standing business relationship between Great Wall Wine, China’s largest winery, and Amorim, the world’s leading cork producer, has led to a joint project to seal all wine served at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with natural cork.

COFCO Wines & Spirits (Great Wall Wine) is the ‘Wine Exclusive Supplier’ for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Olympic team members and delegates from all over the world will have the opportunity to experience Great Wall Wine’s locally produced quality white and red wines in the Olympic Village.

All Great Wall wines served at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be sealed with natural cork — one of the world’s greatest examples of sustainable development.

An integral part of wine culture for hundreds of years, cork forests and cork products are today recognised as playing a key role in the economic, social and environmental prosperity of more than 100,000 people throughout the Western Mediterranean, fostering a unique, harmonic balance between man and nature.

Leading wineries such as Great Wall Wine, aware of the need for sustainable business practices, play a vital role in defending this balance.

Great Wall Wine is COFCO Wines and Spirits flagship brand. It is exported to many countries including France, Germany, UK and the USA.

COFCO Wines & Spirits sees the major task of the company’s association with the Beijing Olympic Games as ensuring China's position in the world's wine culture and earning global recognition of the Chinese wine industry.
