For the third time in four years d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant at d’Arenberg in McLaren Vale has won Best Restaurant in a Winery at the South Australian Restaurant and Catering Awards.
d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant also won the award in 2005 and 2006 and was a finalist in 2007.
Front of House Manager, Jo Reschke was on hand at the Adelaide Convention Centre last night to accept the award which was sponsored by AON Risk Services.
“We are very pleased to win this award again against such strong competition, it really motivates us to keep raising our standards,” she said. “We have a very skilled and dedicated team and recognition like this is a great reward for a lot of hard work.”
The Head Chef team of Peter Reschke and Nigel Rich change the menu seasonally to make the most of fresh local produce. Built onto the original 19th century homestead the intimate glass and timber restaurant has a stunning view of McLaren Vale.
It’s been a successful week for d’Arenberg, with 21 wines receiving a score of 90 points or above in James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion – 2009 Edition which was released today.
The winery again received a red five star rating which James Halliday describes as an ‘Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity’.
Chief Winemaker and Viticulturist Chester Osborn said both accolades were a result of an enthusiastic team.
“The restaurant team thoroughly deserves this award, they continue to come up with innovative and delicious menus that compliment our range of wines,” he said.
“We are also very pleased to get such strong results in James Halliday’s latest Australian Wine Companion which we feel reflects the strength of the whole d’Arenberg portfolio.”
