K1 Wines wins at Boutique Wines of Australia Awards

K1 Wines of the Adelaide Hills added two more trophies to their growing list of accolades after winning top awards at the Boutique Wines of Australia Awards Dinner which was held in Sydney on the 14 July.

Over 1000 entries were judged by nine Australian judges Chaired by Huon Hooke. Hooke, Gary Baldwin and Toni Paterson MW chaired three panels which included TV personality Matthew Skinner (formerly Wine Buyer for Jamie Oliver’s restaurants) and Phillip Shaw (formerly senior winemaker for Rosemount and then Southcorp).

The Boutique Wine Awards is arguably the most prestigious awards for artisanal winemaking in Australia.

K1 Cellar Door has one of the most spectacular vineyard settings in Australia — worthwhile to discover!

Geoff Hardy owner of K1 wines is delighted with another excellent recognition of the ultra premium vineyard site. One stands for the first significant vineyard established in this part of the Adelaide Hills — K for Kuitpo which is almost considered a subzone of the Hills as it is on the very southern boundary of the district.

The K1 Chardonnay has always been one of our flag ship wines in the portfolio and has had some tremendous show success with consistent Gold in various competitions (IWC London, Decanter, Adelaide Hills Show etc).

This variety is perfectly suited to the cooler growing conditions of the Adelaide Hills — deservingly icon status!
