A men’s health organisation – set up in memory of wine writer Tony Hitchin – is about to hold a stellar wine auction to raise funds for men’s health.
Stewart Langton, a supporter of Foundation 49, is coordinating all aspects of the auction to be held on Langton’s influential wine auction website. Stewart is calling on wine lovers to make the most of fabulous wines donated by wineries and retailers from across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
And there’s an extra bonus. Foundation 49 supporters who log on to the auction receive free membership to Langton’s – skipping the $33 annual fee.
Australian Institute of Health and Welfare statistics report that each hour in Australia, more than five men die from conditions that are preventable. Men live shorter lives than women, suffering high levels of cancer, accidental death, suicide, obesity, alcoholism and smoking-related diseases, according to Associate Professor Gary Richardson, chairman of Foundation 49.
“So pull out your credit card and visit the Langton’s website from August 25 to bid for some lovely wine,” Prof Richardson says.
