Wallace a winner at Boutique Wine Packaging Awards

The Australian and New Zealand Boutique Wine Packaging Awards were announced at a presentation dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on Monday 14 July. The Inaugural Boutique Packaging Awards recognise outstanding bottle design.

Glaetzer Wallace won the “Best Red Bottle” Trophy. Anthea Moseley from Glaetzer Wines accepted the award from Chairman Lisa McGuigan at last night’s event.

Wallace is a family name of Ben Glaetzer’s mother Judith, whose ancestors hail from Fife, Scotland. The Celtic cross of Scotland on the Wallace label is a powerful image. The thistle, incorporated as motifs within the cross, is the floral emblem of Scotland. The knot pattern represents the flowing of time and a link with ancestors.

The label is printed on un-coated self-adhesive stock. A sculptured, hand tooled emboss plate is used to create a deep impression, which is enhanced by silver foil to give a traditional pewter lustre. A spot screen red varnish is used over the red dot.

The label design over-delivers in terms of quality perception and appeals to all sectors of the market for its very modern execution of a traditional design. “Our new label was launched in September ’07 and has been an integral part of an increase in sales and recognition of our family brand” said winemaker Ben Glaetzer.
