ASVO Pest and Disease Update

On Thursday 24 July, the ASVO will host 11 speakers to provide a comprehensive pest and disease update for the wine industry. Featuring three international speakers, it promises to be a particularly interesting seminar.

With a later start of 10.30am, the first session will be devoted to Botrytis, with a broad overview of the latest R&D in Australia, followed by Dr Rob Beresford from HortResearch New Zealand, and finally some more practical tips on dealing with the management of bunch rots in high risk environments presented by Liz Riley of Vitibit.

After lunch, the focus will turn to powdery mildew with Professor Gary Grove travelling from Washington State to provide information on ‘Management, modeling and forecasts’. Three Australian presenters follow to leave no stone unturned in relation to this perennial problem.

The day concludes with a session focusing on exotic pests and diseases which includes a presentation from Professor Andy Walker on Pierces disease.

For those not rushing back to Adelaide, the ASVO is hosting a social function at the Mildura Brewery immediately after the conclusion of the Seminar at 5.30pm, and the cost of attendance is included in your registration.
