Award winning contract winery, The Vintage Wineworx, is delighted to announce the appointment of Greg Jones as senior winemaker/manager.
Greg has over 18 years experience in the wine industry and has been a winemaker at The Vintage Wineworx since 2005. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) and is a member of the Wine Industry Association of Western Australia and the Great Southern Wine Producers Association.
Jones will take over the senior winemaker role from Dr Di Miller, who will be leaving to concentrate on her Masters of Wine studies.
Greg was previously manager and senior winemaker at Harvey River Bridge Estate for three years. He has also worked at Houghtons, Orlando Wyndham, Leasingham, and Hardys in McLaren Vale, producing many award winning wines.
Vintage Wineworx major shareholder and Xabregas wines owner, Terry Hogan, said Greg has played a major role in the success of the winery and its clients over the past three and a half years.
“His knowledge and enthusiasm of the winery, in conjunction with his wealth of experience, will prove valuable in the future development of the winery,” he said.
“We’re thrilled with the appointment and expect to continue producing award winning wines for our clients,” Hogan said.
Jones said that working with the exceptional team at the winery, including assistant winemaker Sandra Cluning and production manager, Jacob Longwood, was a privilege.
Cluning is a Curtin University graduate, who has been at the winery since August 2006, after working for two years at Delegats in New Zealand and completing a vintage in New York State.
Longwood has worked at The Vintage Wineworx for four years, and is responsible for bottling and cellar operations. Both are supported by the talented logistics and marketing co-ordinator, Colleen Ryan.
Dr Miller said she has thoroughly enjoyed working at the winery over the past six years and is exceptionally proud of the wineries achievements.
“The current team are the best I have ever worked with and I have the utmost confidence in their ability to carry on the excellent premium winemaking services we provide to clients from across the south-west of the State,” she said.
