With labels referred to as ‘The Gimp’ and wines called Bitch Grenache, Suxx Shiraz and Pure Evil Chardonnay, it’s no surprise R Wines eschewed the standard billboard for something more streetwise.
R Wines commissioned Melbourne street artist, Reka, to whip out the aerosol cans on the side of the Maid Hotel at Stepney for its unique campaign.
“For the R Wines labels we used five designers from around the world, including the guy who designed the Beatles’ album cover for Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” export sales manager, Dan Killey said.
Enter a partnership with Reka and the Maid’s general manager, Tom Skipper, for the mural, which Skipper says will appeal to their 20s to 40s patrons.
“It’s fantastic, 10 times better that what I though,” Skipper said.
For Reka, it’s an even more legal opportunity to display his art.
