The success of the Witchmount 2004 Shiraz at the 2008 Syrah du Monde competition has rightly deserved much recognition in Australia.
Perhaps what is not known to many is that the wine at number 2 in the competition, Pillitteri Estates Shiraz Icewine 2006, was made by an Australian.
Dr Marc Bradshaw is wine master at Pillitteri in Niagara Canada. Marc studied chemistry at the University of Melbourne and then transferred to Charles Sturt University where he completed his doctorate on the chemistry of ascorbic acid in wine.
After vintage work at Pillitteri in 2004, Marc returned as assistant winemaker in 2005 and accepted the position of Wine Master in 2006.
Marc is totally committed to the production of Icewine and the success of the 2006 Shiraz Icewine is testament to his commitment.
