ChardonnayPinot15 on track for July

Coldstream Hills and Toolangi Vineyards host International Chardonnay and Pinot Masterclasses

Two of the Yarra Valley’s most distinguished wineries, Coldstream Hills and Toolangi, are joining forces to celebrate two varieties the region is famous for: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. ChardonnayPinot15 will be held between 11 and 12 July at the RACV Healesville Country Club with a range of activites for producers and consumers.

According to Garry Hounsell, Toolangi Vineyards owner, ChardonnayPinot15 is the ultimate event for lovers of Burgundy-style wines.

“It’s not every day that you get to indulge in a selection of the finest expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot noir from Australia, France, New Zealand and the USA, whilst being tutored by a panel of esteemed wine critics. I can’t wait to be a part of it and to incorporate Pinot in 2015,” he said.

An expert judging panel including James Halliday, Huon Hooke, Bob Campbell MW and Nick Stock will guide attendees through two in-depth masterclasses – Chardonnay on Saturday, Pinot Poir on Sunday – showcasing the Yarra Valley’s finest examples of each variety, tasted with benchmark selections from around the globe. 21 exceptional wines will be tasted blind at each session, with the identities known and order hidden.

A dinner has been planned for the Saturday evening to allow guests to greet the judging panel, together with Toolangi owners Garry and Julie Hounsell, and Coldstream Hills winemaker Andrew Fleming while experiencing the Valley’s best local produce.

After two successful runs of Chardonnay themed festivals, the event has doubled in 2015 to incorporate Pinot Noir, with Coldstream Hills joining as co-host.

Andrew Fleming, Coldstream Hills winemaker, said he was thrilled to be part of such an exciting international showcase of his favourite varieties.

“In a similar way to Toolangi, we live and breathe Chardonnay and Pinot at Coldstream Hills and enjoy expressing the pedigree of the Yarra Valley in our wines. It’s potentially Australia’s premier region for both varieties and it’s amazing to see how well the Valley’s top wines shape up against the best in the world – they’re unquestionably world class,” he said.

The event will be limited to 120 guests. For more information visit www.chardonnaypinot15.com">ChardonnayPinot15.
