Zilzie Wines, one of Australia’s leading family wine companies, has appointed Mark Zeppel as manager-senior winemaker.
Riverland born and bred and a graduate of the world famous Oenology course at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia, Mark has more than 26 years’ experience across a range of roles in the Australian wine industry.
Mark, who has worked in senior winemaking and management roles with both Deakin Estate and Banrock Station, is delighted to be joining the Zilzie team. “It’s great to get back to a medium sized wine company where I will have input across the whole process of winemaking, from the vineyards to the bottled product.
“Zilzie is a truly inspirational family wine company, they consistently make great wines, experimenting with new varieties and receiving high acclaim in the market place, it’s an exciting time to come on board,” said Mark.
In Mark’s new role he will be joining an already highly competent team of two other senior winemakers. The Manager — Senior Winemaker role will complement the skill areas of the existing team and ensure that Zilzie continues to make the highest quality product every vintage.
Andrew Forbes, Managing Director of Zilzie Wines, is excited about the announcement. “I really think we have found the perfect candidate. Mark’s experience at both small winery and corporate winery level equip him perfectly for Zilzie.
“Mark has the right style for us, not just winemaking style but personality style, it’s pretty important to have the right people here.” said Andrew.
