The Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA) is delighted to announce that Kelli Orrell has recently commenced work in the WFA Canberra office as policy advisor.
Kelli’s previous political experience includes advisor roles with the Australian Government, she has a strong background in the parliamentary process and in particular the Senate Committee system. Kelli grew up in rural Western Australia and has lived in Canberra for the past 7 years.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Kelli to the WFA team. Our Government communications function is one of the most vital roles of the WFA, and Kelli’s skills and experience will be invaluable to our ongoing work in Canberra,” commented WFA CEO Stephen Strachan. “Kelli’s appointment comes at a critical time for the WFA, with a new Government and an increase in focus on issues relevant to Australian wineries such as climate change and alcohol abuse.”
Kelli’s appointment takes our Canberra office to three, where she will work under the direction of Dominic Nolan, WFA Director, Government & Community Affairs. Kelli will be working across the broad spectrum of Federation policies with particular responsibility for communicating these to the appropriate target audiences, including politicians, departmental officers, the media and other industry associations.
The WFA is committed to identifying and managing policy priorities and risks, ensuring a competitive regulatory environment and maintaining Government support for the Australian wine sector. Kelli will work with Dominic to implement the WFA’s critical Government affairs strategies in these areas.
