Hong Kong gathers for Wine in China talks

Hong Kong was talking about China for all the right reasons at the Wine in China conference earlier this week.

The second instalment of the acclaimed annual conference and largest “open conversation” of its kind saw over 150 professionals; including 45 speakers and over 100 delegates gather to discuss and debate the Chinese wine market.

The event aimed to facilitate success in the Chinese wine industry with preeminent marketers, business consultants, retailers and media invited to speak and share their experiences and advice on the Chinese market.

High profile wine industry representatives, Simon Hong from ASC Fine Wines, Judy Chan from Grace Vineyard and Gregory De’eb from Crown Wine Cellars, spoke of their success in the market and shared practical tips for existing players.

Debra Meiburg MW, director of the event, said the diversity of voices at the event was a highlight.

“With some of Asia's best media, marketing and retail people sharing their wisdom on doing business in China, those in the wine industry were offered the oft-rare opportunity to 'think outside the bottle' and look forward to trying new approaches,” she said.

“China is one of the world’s highest potential, yet challenging market places.”

Simon Hong, ASC fine wine director, said the event was an opportunity to share his experiences with trade friends.

“It was a very helpful event and I applaud and appreciate Debra’s dedication to the trade and to making the China wine market more prosperous for us all,” he said.
