ASVO announces new president and changes to board

The Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology (ASVO) has announced that Dr Mardi Longbottom, senior viticulturist of the Australian Wine Research Institute, has been appointed president of the organisation.

Upon accepting the appointment, Dr Longbottom said that she was honoured to be elected.

“I would like to thank outgoing president, Paul Petrie, for his hard work and dedication, his insight and focus have been invaluable during his term as President,” she said.

Dr Longbottom will replace Dr Paul Petrie who is standing down, having led the board since 2010.  DrPetrie will take on the role of secretary, a position previously held for two terms by Dr Bob Dambergs.

Dr Longbottom is joined by vice president Brett McClen from Brown Brothers and treasurer, Kristy Bartrop, from the Riverina Winegrapes Marketing Board.
