Lake Breeze wins Best Cabernet Sauvignon trophy

Boutique winery, Lake Breeze has nudged aside the big companies once again, this time to secure the Best Cabernet Sauvignon trophy at the Sydney Royal Wine Show.

The Lake Breeze 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon was presented the Dan Murphy’s Perpetual Trophy for the Best Cabernet Sauvignon in the show.

From only two entries, winemaker, Greg Follett was awarded a trophy and two gold medals:

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Best Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy – gold medal class 20

2005 ‘Bernoota’ Shiraz/Cabernet – gold medal class 7

Lake Breeze has been enjoying enormous success over the last 18 months on the national wine circuit with both the 2004 and 2005 reds. This brings Lake Breeze award tally to an outstanding 20 trophies and 62 gold medals since Greg’s 1992 reds were released.

Lake Breeze was recently named Australia’s Champion Small Winery at the Australian Small Winemakers Show, outperforming 355 other wineries Australia wide.

Greg says: “The 2005 vintage threw up slightly warmer conditions than 2004, and the resultant wines reflect this being voluptuous and showing silky tannins. They are drinking beautifully right now and are both available at cellar door.”

These awards demonstrate the consistency of Lake Breeze’s wines and only strengthen their enviable reputation for constantly producing outstanding wines.
