Amorim strengthens team in Australasia

Amorim has boosted its sales and marketing presence in Australasia with the appointment of Helio Ribeiro to the newly created position of national marketing and sales director.

Amorim Australasia’s general manager Kym Wilsdon said the creation of the new role was designed to help the company add value to its customers’ businesses in a changing marketplace.

“The addition of Helio to our professional team provides us with more resources and will allow Amorim to build on its strong record of customer service in the Australasian market,” he said.

“Helio’s knowledge of cork and the wine industry will help us to improve our focus on meeting customer’s specific needs and on providing a superior level of service.”

Helio Ribeiro brings considerable international experience to the role having worked for Amorim in a variety of markets since 2004.

He commenced his career with the world’s largest cork producer as a customer value manager in Italy, before moving to Portugal and into product management at parent company Amorim & Irmãos.

More recently, Helio spent almost 18 months as the market coordinator for South Africa, Japan, the United Kingdom and Australasia. During that period he spent considerable time in Australia and was involved in the relocation of the company’s head office from Melbourne to Adelaide in 2007.

Prior to joining Amorim he worked for the Oporto wine house, JW Burmester. Helio holds a degree in economics with a post-graduate qualification in marketing and will be responsible for Amorim Australasia’s commercial strategy.

He heads the team of Amorim Australasia account executives that comprises Brett Green (South Australia and Western Australia) and Greg Martin (Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania). He will also be responsible for the New Zealand market.
