Sunday of the Adelaide Cup long weekend will be a day of pure relaxation and indulgence at ‘Crush 08’, the Adelaide Hills Wine Festival.
“We’re inviting the public to fall in love with our food and wine, meet our passionate winemakers and spend a day experiencing the beautiful Adelaide Hills,” says executive officer, Denise Manson.
‘Crush 08’ takes place at various locations around the Adelaide Hills Wine Region, giving guests the opportunity to leisurely meander from cellar door to cellar door such as Nepenthe, Shaw & Smith and Abbey Rock throughout the hills, sampling the best of the region’s food and wine.
“Other group events are planned for key locations in the region that will allow the visitor easier access to more of the wines and foods of the region.”
Mt Barker will play host to one such event, as Keith Stephenson Park is the venue for wineries K1 by Geoff Hardy, d’Arenberg, Howard Vineyard, Longview, Wirra Wirra and Brackenwood to join forces with local food producers in a setting perfect for a family day out. A bus service to and from the city ensures visitors won’t need to drive. Other group events will occur at Clover Hill, Chain of Ponds, Norton Summit, Stirling and the Stanley Bridge Hotel at Verdun.
“In just twenty minutes from Adelaide’s CBD you can be here, glass in hand. ‘Crush 08’ truly is the perfect opportunity for wine and food lovers to enjoy the romantic landscape of Adelaide Hills vineyards or orchards, to sip exquisite wines while enjoying delicious food and good music”, said Ms Manson.
Accommodation by the numerous hotels and Bed and Breakfasts throughout the Hills gives you the choice to spend the day or the whole weekend. Contact the Adelaide Hills Visitor Information Centre on (08) 8388 1185 for an Adelaide Hills Visitor Guide.
Adelaide Hills Wine Region extends its thanks to sponsors South Australian Tourism Commission, Channel 7, Collotype Labels, Spicers Paper, and Adelaide Hills Tourism.
