McLaren Vale Grape Wine and Tourism Association welcomes Amy Richards as its new viticulture officer.
After graduating from Viticulture at the University of Adelaide in 2002, Amy has gained six years’ industry experience, from vineyard management in Central Otago to working as a cellar hand at d’Arenberg.
Most recently she has been completing her PhD at the South Australian Research and Development Institute on a project called Managing Root Zone Salinity in Premium Drip Irrigated Viticulture.
Port Willunga resident Amy is looking forward to working with growers to put her research knowledge into practice.
She is passionate about the region, sustainability, water issues, soil health and climate change.
“I’m looking forward to achieving a sustainable region – I’d like Mclaren Vale to be known as a region that is environmentally aware and responsible and produces quality fruit.”
