Minister for Regional Development, Tony Kelly is urging people in NSW to buy local food and wine for their holiday hampers.
Kelly said supporting the State’s local producers would provide a welcome boost to communities in rural and regional areas this Christmas.
“When you’re thinking of where to buy your turkey and trimmings, pudding, wine, beer, seafood and any other Christmas foods, I urge you to consider some of the top products available from regional NSW,” Kelly said.
“When you buy local you put money back into regional economies and help support these communities in our State, many of which have been struggling through drought conditions.
“There is such a wide variety of fresh foods and fine produce in NSW that you can put together a great touring holiday by sampling your way through the culinary attractions rural and regional of the state.”
Kelly said the Iemma Government had supported many food and wine companies in regional NSW to develop and grow their businesses.
“Christmas and the summer holidays are an important time of year for many of the food and wine producers of regional NSW and the retailers that stock their products.”
