TAFE offers extra flexibility

In the heart of WA’s South West at Margaret River is a world-class wine training facility that supports people working at local wine producers and cellar operations, as well as offering courses for lovers of wine. The Margaret River Education Campus delivers a range of TAFE courses from Certificate II through to Certificate IV level in Food Production (Wine) along with a range of lifestyle and short courses.
The courses run by South West Regional College of TAFE are hands-on and students develop their skills and knowledge through training in the wine production plant, laboratories and workshops. Each year students create and bottle both a red and white wine variety, with this year’s Sauvignon Semillon Blanc earning a bronze medal at the Perth Royal Show in the amateur wine category.
The lecturing team works closely with local producers and wineries to develop courses which improve the skills of employees and give people an edge to begin their careers in vineyard work or cellar door sales. For people seeking supervisory roles in the industry, TAFE offer a Certificate IV in wine management. In addition, training can be tailored and delivered onsite to suit a company’s business needs.
Wine appreciation courses are popular with amateurs who enjoy their wine as well as those working in the industry. People learn the differences between grape varieties and wine regions as well as gain an understanding of the characteristics of wine. Advanced courses enable people to expand their knowledge and learn about wines from around the world.
All of these courses are available both as day classes and at night.
