The Krinklewood 2007 Semillon was awarded Best White in Show at the Organic Wine Show. It was also one of the few Semillons to be awarded a gold medal at the Royal Melbourne Show. The gold at Melbourne reinforces that the 07 Semillon rates very highly among ‘mainstream’ (non-organic and non-biodynamic) wines. Rod Windrim uses biodynamic practice as a means to produce the best wines possible from Krinklewood, medals such as this endorses his approach.
“I just want to make great wines; and the biodynamic approach seemed the logical means to achieving this. Now we are seeing Krinklewood stand up against some of the best wines in the country, and to me this brilliantly reinforces that the biodynamic approach is the way forward for us,” Windrim said.
The second major award the Krinklewood 2007 Verdelho has received was the Top 100 Blue-Gold at the Sydney International Wine Competition.
“This is a huge accolade for us. Our aim is to make great wine that actually tastes of where it is grown. The Verdelho vines are now 10 years old and displaying maturity which is evident in this new vintage, and biodynamic practice means we are getting great intensity of flavour and a new style of vibrant fresh wines. It’s a terrific food wine, which is exactly what these judges were looking for,” Windrim said.
