Morganfield Vineyard triple winner in Macedon Ranges Wine Show

MorganField Vineyard, just outside Lancefield, Victoria, has won three medals out of the four wines they exhibited in this year’s prestigious Macedon Ranges Wine Show in October.

Morganfield won Bronze for their 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 Chardonnay and 2006 Unwooded Chardonnay.

Vineyard owners Gina and Mark Morgan, say they are thrilled with the win, following on from winning the Gold Medal and Longfellows Insurance trophy for best red wine other than Pinot Noir in last year’s Wine Show, for their Cabernet Sauvignon.

“We have only been showing our wines for two years on a regional and national level,” Gina Morgan said.

“During this time our vineyard has shown a great deal of promise, producing and delivering consistently premium quality fruit as evidenced in our award results in the past 2 years. The fact that our fuller bodied red, a cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, only got bottled in May 2007 and rated a bronze in October 2007 shows the great potential of this great red,” she said.

The Morgans realised their dream of operating a vineyard in October 2003, when they purchased the property which has 10 of its 65 acres under vine – pinot gris, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir. Both wine enthusiasts spent a great deal of time both in Australia and overseas undertaking wine courses, visiting wineries and learning about wines before they entered the industry themselves.

Visitors to the area can sample MorganField Vineyard Wines at their cellar door at 104 Ashworths Road, Lancefield, Victoria. Cellar door hours are between 11am and 5pm weekends and public holidays or by appointment. Bookings are advisable for lunch.
