New appointments at Winemakers’ Federation of Australia

The Winemakers’ Federation of Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of two new staff members to key roles within the Federation.

Penny Boothman has been appointed to the role of manager, communications and membership.

Penny has been part of the international wine industry for over a decade, having previously studied winemaking in New Zealand and working in retail and importing in the UK, before starting her career as a journalist. She was awarded the Websters Publishers / Circle of Wine Writers Young Wine Writer Award 2004, and subsequently joined the team at London-based Drinks Business magazine.

Penny has worked internationally as a freelance journalist specialising in wine and wine business issues for a number of years. Following a few months at the helm at The Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker magazine she returned to freelance life for the northern hemisphere summer. A regular judge at wine shows in Australia and the UK, Penny was also awarded a scholarship to attend the Len Evans Tutorial 2006.

Penny commences her new role today, 29 October.

Susan Bell has been appointed to a new role of Research Officer.
