13th VISY Challenge results

The 13th VISY Great Australian Shiraz Challenge held last Thursday, 18 October, has awarded first place to Tatachilla for its 2002 Foundation Shiraz. Fanchon Ferrandi is the winemaker for the winning wine

Second place was awarded to Lawson Wines’ 2003 Lawson Wines Vintage Reserve Barossa Valley Shiraz, Taylors Wines won third place for its 2002 St Andrews Shiraz and the Best under $25 — ASA Cork Trophy was given to Jean Paul’s Vineyard’s 2005 Shiraz.

Proudly supported by the Australian and New Zealand Wine Industry Journal, the 2007 Challenge received a record 416 entries, with 253 wines from South Australia, 89 from Victoria, 40 from Western Australia, 31 from New South Wales and 3 entries from Queensland.

The judging panel consisted of John Duval (chair), Geoff Merrill, Nick Bullied MW and Alan George.
