Pellenc Australia has just been named a finalist in the NAB Agribusiness Awards for Excellence 2007. The Awards, whose aim is “recognising excellence, innovation and leadership”, will be presented at a Gala Dinner to be held in Melbourne on 31 October.
Pellenc is in the running, along with four other finalists, for the Technology and Innovation Award. To be considered for this Award, which is presented by the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, applicants needed to demonstrate the following: • High potential profitability through successful adoption of new products or processes; • Innovation of high value to the customer; • A long term commitment to Australian innovation; • Competitive advantage through protection of the innovation.
Pellenc Australia has been a strong promoter of innovation amongst other wine industry suppliers through its participation in Wine Industry Suppliers Australia Inc (WISA). Managing director, Louise Fraser, is the Immediate Past Chair of WISA, whilst Product Development Engineer, Frank O’Riley, is an active member of the organisation’s Innovation Sub-Committee. The company recently hosted the first of a series of “Learning and Sharing” seminars presented by WISA, which are aimed at demonstrating to other wine industry suppliers the commercial and other advantages of investing in innovation.
Fraser said the company was absolutely thrilled at having been named a finalist in the Awards.
“To get this far is a fantastic achievement in itself,” she said. “Looking through the list of past winners and finalists, we are honoured to be in such good company. We owe much of this success to our customers, who have worked with us to develop and perfect our products and who share our passion for innovation and continual improvement. And of course, to our dedicated and highly skilled Product Development Engineer, Frank O’Riley, who has worked enormously hard in designing the equipment which has produced these outstanding results.”
