Having cracked the massive US market, rapidly expanding Queensland winemaker Aussie Vineyards is set to start its attack on the Australian market on the eve of the Gold Coast Indy.
The vineyard, backed by the Craig Gore-led Atkinson Gore Group, has appointed experienced wine marketer Zach Wilson to spearhead the launch of the winery’s AU brand in Australia and New Zealand in the coming months.
With Aussie Vineyards shipping more than 100 000 cases of its AU wine brand to the US annually, a fired-up Gore said the time was ripe to expand to new markets, as well as expanding AU’s domestic presence.
Gore said Wilson had been appointed as Aussie Vineyards general and business development manager after an exhaustive Australia wide search.
“Wilson will be responsible for building the AU brand in Australia and New Zealand in the coming months,” he said.
“He will also be involved in overseeing the further development of the cellar door business at Hartley Rd in Mt Tamborine, which has recently gone through a major facelift, and the AU Wine Club.”
Wilson, whose most recent position was as Sales and Marketing Director of Melbourne based national wine distributor RW&S, said he was looking forward to the challenge of building the AU brand.
“This is an exciting time for Aussie Vineyards which has built an incredible record in the US in a short space of time,” he said.
“We will be looking at how we can leverage off that success in Australia and other markets.
“In particular the Gold Coast leg of the Champ Car racing series, in which the Aussie Vineyard’s backed, Team Australia is doing phenomenally well, we will be looking to capitalise on that opportunity to cross promote our brand.”
