Young tourism professional recognised

Barossa Wine and Tourism’s Marketing and Administration Coordinator Brooke Modra, has been selected as South Australia’s Inaugural Young Tourism Ambassador for the Australian Regional Tourism Convention to be held in Canberra from 30 October to 2 November 2007.

Young tourism professionals in each state were invited to apply to become that state's ambassador at the 2007 event and have their registration and travel costs covered. The Australian Regional Tourism Network will also facilitate a networking group to support and mentor the Young Ambassadors, with the total sponsorship package valued at approximately $5,000.

Brooke Modra is ecstatic about the announcement, and believes it will be a valuable learning tool for her future career in tourism.

Brooke states, “The convention this year focuses on leadership, partnerships, sustainability and regional prosperity, all issues that are relevant to the Barossa as a regional destination.

The convention will allow me to explore these issues and further my knowledge, which will assist in my own career development in the tourism industry.”

Racheal Klitscher, Regional Marketing Manager says “There is a history of Young Barossans' achieving success in their chosen field, we are delighted that Brooke has been offered this opportunity to develop her own profile as well as that of our region. Brooke's involvement will ensure that the Barossa continues to be highlighted at this important national forum.”

During the convention, Brooke will have the opportunity to network with professionals working in regional tourism, local government and industry across Australia, as well as make a brief presentation to approximately 180 convention delegates.
