Angove's senior winemaker named Riverland Winemaker of the Year

Angove's senior winemaker Warwick Billings was named the Riverland Winemaker of the Year at the annual Riverland Wine show presentation dinner.

This caps of a stellar week for Angove's which also saw them named as Winery of the Year by Peter Forrestal in his annual Wine Guide — QUAFF 2008.

On learning of this win John Angove, managing director of the 121 year old family owned winery stated "This was a very well earned recognition for Warwick's considerable input into the winemaking activities in the district. Apart from his great input at a company level, Warwick has also been heavily involved in the Riverland Wine show activities, and was the pioneer and ongoing driver of the "Some Like it Hot" seminar that is now a regular feature of the annual calendar. Please join me in congratulating Warwick for a most well deserved award, and for his commitment to the district. It is that extra input and determination that makes all the difference. Thanks Warwick, from us all."

Warwick has worked for Angove's for the past 5 years after spending many years jet setting around the globe learning the winemaking craft. Prior to joining Angove's Warwick worked at Miranda Wines, Rowland Flat/Griffith, Chateau de Landiras, Bordeaux, Richmond Grove, Tanunda, followed closely by Domaine Lafage in the Languedoc, France, La Gioisa in Veneto and a 6 month spell in Chile at Viña Casa Rivas in the Maipo followed by some consultant winemaking in France working in Beziers, Macon, Beaune and Chablis.
