Hardy producers another commanding Perth Wine Show performance

Hardy Wine Company, Australia’s most awarded winemaker, continued its commanding presence at capital city wine shows, with Houghton taking out 'Most Successful Western Australian Exhibitor' at the 2007 Perth Wine Show for the seventh time since 1999.

Another milestone achievement for the Hardy Wine Company was the award for Best Sparkling Wine taken out by the 2001 Hardys Sir James Tumbarumba. This wine will be released in 2008 under the acclaimed Sir James Vintage label as a late disgorged sparkling.

The Sir James accolade was the 10th consecutive Best Sparkling Wine trophy for the Hardy Wine Company at the annual Perth Wine Show and the 20th consecutive best sparkling trophy awarded to the company at Australian capital city wine shows.

“Winning 20 consecutive trophies at capital city wine shows for a single category is a stunning and unprecedented achievement,” Hardy Wine Company Group Chief Winemaker, Mr Paul Lapsley, said today.

“This result is a tribute to the outstanding talents of Ed Carr – our Group Sparkling Winemaker — and his sparkling winemaking team. In Perth, across the sparkling classes, we were awarded 14 medals,” he said.

“We are absolutely delighted with our continued wine show success. The nation’s capital city wine shows are getting more competitive each year, so to receive 125 medals across our range in Perth is a superb performance.

“It is further rewarding evidence of our commitment to produce great quality wines across our entire brand portfolio.”

In total, the Company received five trophies, 19 gold medals, 37 silver and 64 bronze medals.

Trophies were awarded to:

Houghton Wine Company — Bill Jamieson Trophy for Most Successful WA Exhibitor
